Cc101-Klara the Scorpion
(Klara and Domingo are from my old WIP-Wages of Sin. This is my work, please do not take it as your own. Rights reserved and all that good stuff.)
Domingo watched her from the stable’s archway, noted the subtle way her shoulder’s bunched and stiffened upon his arrival. He grinned; she’d never allow him to get the drop on her again, or so she would choose to believe. He leaned against the archway, content to enjoy the view of her backside from where she sat dutifully on the dusty floor next to Nogusta’s makeshift prison. Delighting in the small shivers that ran down her spine-
“How can I be of assistance, Domingo?”
‘ So many ways..’, Domingo’s grin broadened as he bowed slightly. “Lady,”
Her eyes hardened at that and still refused to turn and address him fully.
No matter.
“You will do me the honor of a walk. The opportunity to catch up.”
“No.” She said calmly. “I will not.”
“And why not?”
“I am preoccupied.”
Domingo chuckled, “I’m sure Nogusta wouldn’t mind lending you to me for an hour. Stallion’s have needs, after all, and Imogene has some of the finest mares. Why not let him get acquainted?”
A snicker. “What would you know of a Stallion’s needs, Domingo?”
Her words could cut less confident men to ribbons. He knew, he had been so unfortunate, once upon a time. “Time passes, Klara. Seasons change, boys become men. Take a look for yourself.”
She moved quickly, the barest flicker and a dagger sang through the air, punching home into the wall behind him. He spared a glance at the weapon then back to her. “And girls become Reapers, apparently.”
“I have seen all I need to see of you. Kutscha!” His amusement diminished at the edge in her voice. “Be assured, I did not miss.”
“I believe you, but be you assured, I am not a traitor.”

In practice
I have more Scorpio inspired characters than I care to openly admit. *g* Klara (from WOS), Sasha (from Dirge) and ‘Arm’s Daughter’ (no name yet, from upcoming Thriller project). I suppose they just come naturally to me.
I’m a little reluctant to talk about myself, but my horoscope said I should ignore my reservations and speak from the Heart. I usually don’t put much stock into horoscopes, admittingly, but given the circumstance…it seemed ominous should I choose to ignore.
I will say this: Everything I’ve ever read about my sign is true in some degree or another, at least, from what I know of myself. Online, I am a lot less reserved and more personable and friendly.
Offline however, the first words I hear are usually, “She’s awfully quiet/mysterious.” I take no pride (though I once did) in saying most guys were afraid of me in high school, even the older ones. I was a bit of a tom-boy and had a reputation for getting into fights, but it was more than that. Scorpio’s are said to have very “intense, probing” eyes, and in my more-er-relaxed older years, my eyes happen to be the first thing I get complimented on.
Any Questions? Comments? Want to put me in my place? Notice any Scorpio traits in your own Characters? Have at people, floors all yours.

* Motto of the Scorpio
** Title of a Song, taken from Born on a Rotten Day by Hazel Dixon-Cooper
** Wish I could take credit for this, but Linda Goodman’s excellent book on Sun Signs was the first to associated Alice in Wonderland quotes with the Zodiac. I picked the ones I liked the most of her selection.
Ah, Scorpios… my world would be so much poorer without them.
It’s all true of the ones I know, and even my husband, who is one of THE most gregarious people I have ever met, has this air of mysteriousness about him (well, he did when I met him… I have to say know him pretty well these days…).
Oh. And I find it not surprising IN THE LEAST that their governing anatomy is the reproductive system… and that’s all I’m gonna say about THAT!
Bethanie- It’s always the quiet ones, you know?
